The Na Leo Lani Chorus (NLL) has been a mainstay of the Honolulu area since its founding in 1975. NLL is dedicated to enhancing the appreciation of four-part harmony, barbershop style, arranged and sung without instrumental accompaniment,  through education and performance. Members are team spirited, goal oriented women of all ages and backgrounds who have come together to share their love of harmony.

Fully supported through membership dues, corporate and foundation grants, and public and private performance donations, NLL earns high regard in the community both for the superb entertainment it offers and for the opportunity it presents talented women to participate in a first-class musical experience.

   The barbershop style of singing is one of only four truly American musical art forms, the others being Dixieland jazz, gospel and cowboy songs.

   The Na Leo Lani Chorus provides education and training in this uniquely American singing style, performing in a variety of venues in order to reach the widest audience possible. The Chorus sings as a whole and also encourages small groups and quartets, offering both public and private performances.

  

As members of the community, the Chorus shares the joy of singing at free concerts for senior residence facilities, hospitals, homeless shelters, and other charitable organizations throughout the year and particularly during the holiday season. Paid performances include special birthday celebrations, singing Valentines, corporate and private parties, holiday parties, and community activities.

From treasured American and Hawaiian classics to Big Band, Broadway, doo wop, and contemporary hits, NLL performances are traditionally family oriented, exciting, and upbeat. Chorus shows are professionally scripted, choreographed, and staged and featured guest artists include talented local well-known performers. Special admission discounts at Chorus shows are offered to senior citizens and groups.

Membership

Membership in NLL is open to women 16 years and older. You don’t have to have special musical training or know how to read music to join. If you are a musical person, can carry a tune, and can hold your part standing next to someone singing a different part, you will be taught the rest!
